Heels
A heels class is a dance class where participants learn choreography and technique while wearing high-heeled shoes. The style combines elements from various dance forms, such as jazz, contemporary, and burlesque, to create a dynamic and expressive movement experience. Heels classes aim to improve strength, coordination, and balance while empowering students to feel confident and graceful.
What to expect in a heels class:
Dance Styles: Heels dance is a broad style that can incorporate movements and techniques from many dance genres, including jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and even burlesque.
Choreography: You will learn structured routines and choreography, with a focus on integrating the heels into your movements.
Emphasis on Technique: Classes emphasize balance, strength, coordination, and body awareness to safely and effectively perform movements in heels.
Confidence and Empowerment: A key aspect of heels dance is the transformation in confidence and self-expression that comes with dancing in high heels.
Benefits of taking a heels class:
Improved Physical Fitness: The class helps build endurance, strength, and flexibility.
Enhanced Balance and Coordination: Dancing in heels challenges your balance, leading to better agility and coordination.
Stress Reduction: For many, heels dancing is a form of stress relief and can boost mood.
Self-Expression: It offers a unique way to express femininity, confidence, and personal style.
What to wear:
Appropriate Heels: The best shoes are those that are secure to your ankles, such as booties or shoes with ankle straps, to provide stability. (Heel height depends on your comfort zone. We have clear bands that can be placed over your shoes if they are not secure - just ask)
Avoid High Platforms: It's generally better to start with a lower heel or a chunky heel for better balance and to avoid injury.
Comfortable Attire: Wear clothing that allows for a full range of motion so you can move freely.
